This workshop will briefly address the social challenges of Adult Asperger’s. We will demonstrate role-training that provides “Aspies” with knowledge of appropriate responses in common situations. Action methods help this socially stressed population who lack integration of social cues. They then have the ability to learn new responses in situations they have not understood. There will be a psychodrama demonstration, processing, and handouts.

This interactive demonstration of action methods will allow attendees to witness, practice, and experience strength-based structures that capitalize on clients’ strengths to put recovery and wellness into action.

This is one of the many spectacular sessions offered at the 45th Annual Southwestern School for Behavioral Health Studies. A great way to get your continuing education in the splendor of the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson.

Faculty:
Adena Bank Lees, LCSW, LISAC, BCETS, is an adjunct faculty member of the Arizona Psychodrama Institute and a leading expert in childhood sexual abuse treatment. As a sought after speaker and consultant, Adena has presented to and trained hundreds of mental health and allied professionals across the globe on sexual abuse and its relation to substance/process addictions, dissociation and eating disorders.

Dr. Marlo Archer, CP, PAT, is a co-founder of the Arizona Psychodrama Institute, a licensed psychologist, a Practitioner Applicant for Trainer in psychodrama, and the 2013 recipient of the Zerka T. Moreno Award. Psychodrama students may receive up to 160 of their training hours from a PAT. Marlo Archer is an approved provider for NAADAC, NBCC, & NRCGP.

Participants in this foundational workshop will have fun learning how client metaphors open the door to initiate action methods in individual, family, and couples sessions dealing with mental health and/or addiction issues; will experience several activities they can begin using immediately; and will receive informative handouts defining terms such as concretization, maximization, soliloquy, aside, and role reversal. Small action pieces will allow for deep personal work for some attendees.
